I’m a metal and hard rock Independent Recording Artist from Melbourne, Australia. I love my music hard, loud, aggressive and with feel.
I’ll bet because you’re reading this, you’ve got a similar taste in music and like it heavy too.
Ever since I was 10, I could barely put a guitar down. I live and breathe music and have only ever wanted two things out of my life:
1. To create music.
2. To share it with awesome people.
I got into some metal bands early on, released a few albums, toured Australia and Japan and thought I was on my way to my dreams...
...but then everything fell apart.
Cracks formed in the bands I was playing in and after touring Japan my death metal band imploded.
My guitarist quit, my vocalist and I were at each others throats in the streets of Osaka and my drummer was going through starting a family and couldn't commit to a musical future.
I had put everything I had into that band. It hit me hard and I wanted a fresh start so I came back to Australia, moved to a new city with a girl I was with....
But pretty soon she started to realise the downside of being with a musician. Locking myself in my studio until late, touring, time away from home, late nights and hell of a lot of grind....
She didn't want to support my dreams and just didn't understand.
She kicked me out on the street where I found myself homeless in a new city where I knew no one and had nothing.
My life spiralled down, I was burned out, wounded from my band falling apart, heartbroken from my relationship ending and left on the streets with only a suitcase and an acoustic guitar.
No band, no home, no relationship. I was f-ed!
Music had always been my escape, my saviour; the one true constant in my life that would never leave or disappoint me.
It was music that saved my life from heavy depression in my teens and always got me through the hard times and here I was again with nothing else but music.
I hate to think what or where I would be without music. Maybe you can relate to that?
So from that place, I started writing music for me. I wanted to get back to my roots in hard rock. I needed to purge my demons and emotions. I wanted to experiment with different sounds and styles and most of all I wanted to finally step up to the microphone as a lead vocalist. No more constraints. No more BS in bands....
And so my solo project "Cam Bird" was born.
I was done with bands and I just wanted to create music that I loved again and share it with people who understood it and what I'm all about.
I wanted to show people that they could get their ass kicked in life but still turn it all around and come out strong and I wanted my music to be a voice for anyone going through hell.
I wrote my first solo EP "Phoenix" and hit the mic as a frontman for the first time (shakily lol!), then purged a lot of my demons launching my 2nd EP "Flight" and my fanbase started to grow.
My music quickly started to overtake where we got to in my old bands and I was making a difference to people talking and writing about what I'd been through in my life. It was way more personal and impactful and I got back to the grass roots of what this is all about.
Music is one of the greatest and most precious gifts we have. Something that can't be touched or taken away even in the shitty times.
That's why I’m so determined as an independent artist now and tear down walls and barriers with my fans at every step of the way.
Even though this journey as a musician is hard and sometimes scary as hell.

I still live for those two things I mentioned: creating kick ass heavy music I love and sharing it with awesome people just like you.

Most artists barely talk to their fans or care about them but thats not how I roll. I want to bring you into my world as a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter and independent artist.
